How to Eliminate/Add Password Reveal Button from Windows 10 Login Screen

All Windows 10 users have to go to the login screen at least once a day. When you do go to the login screen, you obviously have to introduce your password to gain access to your content.

So, you enter your password, and Windows tells you that it’s wrong. You’re obviously surprised since you’re sure that you introduced the right password. You don’t panic too much since you think that maybe you just typed too fast. Since you have no other choice, you go ahead and type in the password again, but this time slower.

If you still get the same message, then it would be a good idea to enable the button that allows you to see what password you are entering. That way, you can gain access to your Windows 10 computer the first time. Before you make this change, try to remember if you recently changed your password but just forgot.

The latest version of Windows gives you the possibility of either showing or eliminating that option. In other words, in converts those dots into actual characters, you can understand. That way you are sure that you’re introducing the right password.

How to Enable/Disable The Password Reveal Button on Windows 10

If you want to see your password to make sure it’s the right one, all you have to do is click on the Eye icon. But, if you take security very seriously you may want to disable this feature since you never know when someone might be looking over your shoulder. If you have Windows 10 Pro or Enterprise, you will need to type in gpedit.msc in the Command Prompt and click on Enter.

Now, you should be looking at the Group Policy Editor window. From here you will need to go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Credential User Interface.

At the top right, you should see Do not display the password reveal button policy. Double-click on it and the Policy Settings box should appear.

If you don’t want the password reveal button to show up, select Enable, but if you choose Disable or Do Not Configure, the password button will appear. You should see these option in the upper left-hand corner

Once you’ve completed all of the following steps, you will need to lock your computer or Reboot for the changes to take effect. You can easily lock your computer by pressing the Windows key and the L key.

You never know when someone might be looking right when you click on the button to reveal your password. It only takes a second for someone to see your password and you know what that means.
